📍With a vision to empower Alaskids not only to explore and learn about science but also to apply scientific knowledge to answer real-world questions and solve problems, Alaska International Elementary School is thrilled to announce the “ALASKA SCIENCE FAIR 2024,” scheduled for the fourth week of April 2024.

ALASKA SCIENCE FAIR 2024 will provide a platform for science enthusiasts and creative/exploratory minds to choose their areas of scientific interest and embark on exciting science projects.

Through project-based learning, students will gradually apply scientific knowledge to answer questions or address real-world issues. They will also gain valuable experiences through teamwork and presentation skills to create effective science projects.

Planned Activities:

  • SCIENCE FAIR PROJECT EXHIBITION: Groups of up to 7 members, with no age, grade level, or topic restrictions, are encouraged to create interactive models and challenges/games for direct audience engagement. Teams will present their projects to the judges (maximum 3 minutes).
  • ROBOTICS COMPETITION: Each class will select one team of 6 members (3 males, 3 females) to participate in age-based competitions (Grades 1-2 and Grades 3-5). After familiarizing themselves with the model and receiving pre-competition training, teams will use their constructed robots to fulfill BTC’s requirements.

Presentation Language: English

Robotics Competition Selection Criteria: The 6 members will be selected based on their Science performance (for International classes) and English performance (for High-Quality classes).

Scoring Rubric for SCIENCE FAIR 2024 Projects (100 points):

  • Project Idea (15 points)
  • Research Methodology (20 points)
  • Scientific Knowledge and Presentation Skills (35 points)
  • Effectiveness and Exhibition Presentation Content (30 points)

As renowned scientist Albert Einstein once said, “Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.”

With ALASKA SCIENCE FAIR 2024, Alaska eagerly anticipates the active support and collaboration of parents and teachers to ignite the curiosity of Alaskids, allowing them to experience the wonders that science brings to life and the world.
