? In light of the increasing trend of mental health issues and their significant impact on the quality of education and the development of adolescents, on April 13, 2024, the Alaska Education System collaborated with Hanoi Medical University and the U.S. Center in Hanoi to organize a training workshop for the teaching staff of Alaska International Primary School.
At the workshop, doctors from the Department of Psychiatry – Hanoi Medical University shared their knowledge on three common issues related to school mental health today, including:
? Recognizing and managing internet gaming disorder in children
? Recognizing and managing depression and suicide in children
? Recognizing and managing attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children
The training workshop was a valuable opportunity for Alaska teachers to update their knowledge, identify the risks and signs of mental health problems in adolescents, and proactively communicate with parents to detect, advise/intervene in a timely manner, helping students build a healthy lifestyle and develop coping skills to deal with negative emotions or difficulties/temptations that they may encounter in life.
