CONGRATULATIONS TO NGUYEN TRUONG AN KHANG - SILVER MEDALIST AT THE WORLD CADET RAPID & BLITZ CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS 2024

The World Cadet Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2024 took place from April 25 to 29 in Durres, Albania, bringing together 375 young chess players from 43 countries and territories to compete in six categories: U8, U10, and U12 for both boys and girls.

Nguyen Truong An Khang, a student in grade 4A3 at Alaska Primary School, was one of 15 players on the Vietnamese team participating in this year’s tournament. After a disappointing loss that cost him a medal opportunity in the rapid chess event, Nguyen Truong An Khang regained his composure and determination as he entered the 11-round blitz chess competition.

Overcoming strong opponents from Russia, Ukraine, India, the United States, and Scotland, Nguyen Truong An Khang scored 10 points, securing the Silver Medal for the U10 boys’ division and bringing honor to the Vietnamese team.

This achievement marks Nguyen Truong An Khang’s first World Championship medal and the only medal for Hanoi and the northern provinces at the World Cadet Rapid & Blitz Chess Championships 2024.

As a result of this impressive performance, Nguyen Truong An Khang will be promoted to National Master later this year.
