🧩 Following a series of engaging weather description lessons that relate to everyday life, the Mercury students (ages 5-6) at Alaska Academy Preschool were thrilled to make wind socks together – a simple yet effective tool for determining wind direction and strength.
🧩 Wooden sticks, colored paper, colorful ribbons, glue… the teacher had everything prepared. The children’s task was to remember the operating principles/structure of the wind sock that the teachers had instructed in previous lessons, and then cut, paste, and complete their own wind socks.
🧩 With skillful hands and a spirit of positive collaboration, the Mercury children’s wind socks were completed very quickly in a variety of lovely colors. Now, let’s take our products to the schoolyard to test the wind direction and see what happens…
🧩 Amazingly, we can’t see the wind with the naked eye, but thanks to the wind sock, we can tell which direction the wind is blowing, and how fast or slow it’s moving…
💕 Thank you for the beneficial Science lessons at Alaska Academy. Thank you to the teachers at Alaska Academy for diligently sparking the curiosity of the “tiny scientists,” so that they enjoy observing, analyzing, and exploring the world every day.❤️
