✍️The famous poem “Hạt gạo làng ta” (The Rice Grain of Our Village) by poet Tran Dang Khoa has long been etched into the hearts of generations of Vietnamese people for its deep, poetic verses that fully capture the arduous yet meaningful journey of our homeland’s grains of rice.
At Alaska Academy, in today’s Visual Arts class for Class Mercury A2, that beloved grain of rice stepped out from the poetic pages to embark on an exciting journey of discovery with our little ones!
“Dear little friends! We are the animal friends of the forest. After a strong gust of wind, we disappeared, leaving behind only small grains of rice. Please use your skillful hands and imagination to help us reappear!”
Receiving this adorable “secret mission” from their animal friends, our young Mercury A2 “artists” enthusiastically rolled up their sleeves and accepted the challenge. Using plain rice, glutinous rice, brown rice, and more, the children carefully applied glue and meticulously arranged each grain to bring their forest friends back to life in the most playful and delightful ways!
We warmly invite Parents to admire these one-of-a-kind artworks and listen to the “Stories Told by Rice Grains”!
Every day at school for our kindergarteners is filled with wonderful lessons — where imagination, creativity, and fine motor skills are nurtured and shine brighter each day — and today’s Visual Arts lesson, “Stories Told by Rice Grains,” is a beautiful example of just that! ❤️
