ALASKA ACADEMY: Equipping Students with Life Skills for a Healthy and Safe Future

The world outside our doors is a vibrant and diverse tapestry, brimming with new experiences and endless possibilities. However, amidst the allure and excitement of life, we face an increasing number of risks and challenges.

How can we prepare our Alaskids to confront life’s difficulties and emerge stronger? How can we equip them with the skills to manage themselves effectively and interact positively with others and society?

In response to these crucial questions, Alaska International Primary School has proudly launched its Life Skills Education program for all grades, from Block 1 to Block 5, commencing in July 2024.

Carefully crafted and aligned with fundamental principles of child life skills education, our Life Skills lessons will gradually empower Alaskids with the following:

• Prevention and Avoidance of Accidents and Injuries
• Health Awareness and Nutrition Education
• Emergency Preparedness and Response

As Thomas Fuller aptly stated, “‘Tis skill, not strength, that governs a ship.” Through our Life Skills Education program, we aim to instill in our Alaskids the skills and knowledge they need to navigate the currents of life with confidence, strength, and resilience.
