✏️Today, in the lovely Music Room at Alaska Academy, the Alaskids of Class 5A1 embarked on an emotional “journey across Vietnam” through a special thematic lesson: “Introduction to National Musical Instruments,” guided by Ms. My Hanh.
🔸To the Northern Highlands: The Alaskids were fascinated to discover the Đàn Tính, an instrument deeply rooted in Then singing, and the small yet unique Đàn Môi (Jew’s harp) of the H’mong people.
🔸To the Northern Delta: Eyes were filled with wonder as the soul-stirring melodies of the Đàn Bầu (monochord) resonated through the room.
🔸To the Majestic Central Highlands: The entire class was captivated by the rich and diverse sounds of the Đàn T-rưng—an instrument traditionally played during the vibrant festivals of the Bahnar and Gia Rai people.
🔸To the Gentle South: The elegant melodies of the Đàn Tranh (zither) and the crisp, rhythmic beats of the Song Loan brought the essence of Đờn Ca Tài Tử art closer to our Alaskids.
✏️Beyond listening to Ms. My Hanh’s introduction and watching vivid performance clips, the Alaskids were incredibly excited to participate in hands-on activities:
📍Observing the structure and learning how each instrument produces its unique sound.
📍Directly practicing holding the Đàn Tính, blowing the Đàn Môi, or trying their hand at keeping rhythm with the Song Loan.
📍Performing in groups, creating impromptu yet high-energy musical ensembles.
✏️Heartfelt thanks to Ms. My Hanh and Class 5A1 for such a joyful music lesson. It provided precious moments of relaxation after academic hours while nurturing the students’ souls, helping them cherish, preserve, and promote the beautiful traditional musical values of our nation.
