🔸Interdisciplinary Project: Language & EQ, Fine Arts, and Reading Culture
🔸Duration: January 19 – 30, 2026
🔸Participants: Students from Grade 1 to Grade 5
✏️The Lunar New Year (Tet) is the most significant traditional festival of the year. During Tet, numerous activities spark the curiosity of our young Alaskids: from the worship of the Kitchen Gods, wrapping Banh Chung, and arranging the five-fruit tray, to traditions like “first footing,” giving lucky money, and asking for calligraphy… to decorating the Tet pole (Cay Neu), folk paintings, parallel sentences, and joining spring festivals.
To explain these rituals and activities in a concise, simple, and memorable way, the “TET TRADITIONS AT HOME” project takes Alaskids on a cultural journey with several unique highlights:
📖 Reading Culture with Ms. Ha My: Students are introduced to the book “Tales of Lunar New Year” and explore folk stories, short stories, and poems about Tet in the library to visualize a vivid and captivating “picture of Tet.”
✍️ Language & EQ with Ms. Mai Anh: Alaskids “touch” each word, selecting the best ideas and phrases to write prose and poetry filled with the essence of Spring, reflecting the bustling and warm atmosphere of family reunions.
🎨 Fine Arts with Ms. Nguyen Uoc: With paint, paper, and brushes, students recreate their favorite Tet activities and design unique Tet greeting cards under the dedicated guidance of Ms. Nguyen Uoc.
✏️With dexterity, patience, and excitement, each stage of the “TET TRADITIONS AT HOME” journey opens up vibrant colors that make the Tet season so lively and heartwarming. Through these experiences, the Alaskids can truly feel that Tet is just around the corner.
💕A heartfelt thank you to this interdisciplinary project and our dedicated teachers who constantly strive to turn lessons into moments of exploration—where the beautiful values of the Lunar New Year are reminisced in a gentle yet profound way. 🌸✨🧧
