ALASKA ACADEMY: ALASKIDS EMBARK ON PERSONAL FINANCE EDUCATION

In May 2025, the Cashville Kidz Financial Education Program will be offered for the second time at Alaska Academy, benefiting students in grades 3 through 5.

Aiming to help Alaskids become future “Financial Masters,” the program delivers practical and valuable lessons, including:

The history of money

Balancing needs versus wants

Understanding what matters more than money

Smart shopping habits

Lessons from millionaires

Basic investment principles

Keeping money safe

To engage 3rd graders effectively and enthusiastically, Alaska’s teachers have designed the personal finance lessons with a variety of interactive formats such as watching videos, playing games, solving secret crossword puzzles, spinning the Wheel of Fortune, answering quizzes, and finding correct answers.

Through these activities, Alaskids have explored important personal finance skills and shared ideas on managing and saving money wisely. They also discussed how to spend thoughtfully when receiving money or lucky money gifts, encouraging responsible financial habits from a young age.
