✏️ On January 6, 2025, the preliminary round of the Eloquence contest for the “English Festival” 2025 was held in Alaska.
✏️ With 50 contestants participating, the Eloquence contest provided a platform for Alaskan students to showcase their communication and presentation skills, as well as express their opinions and awareness on a wide range of topics.
✏️ In addition to traditional subjects such as family, friends, weather, and toys, many contestants demonstrated their maturity by addressing significant issues that impact the mental health and well-being of school-age children, such as: Should we use toy guns? What have I learned from playing with Lego? How can I excel in science? Healthy food and nutrition.
✏️ The judges were pleasantly surprised by the participation of first-grade students. Although the youngest group, first graders accounted for more than half of the total contestants. Not only did they confidently tackle a variety of topics, but the first graders also demonstrated excellent English proficiency, matching their older peers in the quality of their presentations.
💕 The organizers are grateful to all the contestants who prepared and practiced to deliver their best performances in the preliminary round. Alaska has fostered an environment where children not only love the English language but also feel confident using it as a second language.
We eagerly anticipate the final round of the English Festival 2025, where the outstanding contestants from the preliminary round will take the stage at the Alaska Academy’s first-semester review ceremony.❤️
