📍 The chemical change of matter is a complex topic, but for the 5A1 class at Alaska Academy, two STEM lessons exploring this concept were particularly engaging and informative.
✏️In the modern lab, the Alaskids first learned, discussed, and practiced understanding common chemical changes in everyday life, such as the rusting of nails, the burning of coal, and the transformation of raw rice into cooked rice. Building on this foundation, the students then had the opportunity to create invisible ink and use it to write unique letters to the heroes on the battlefield.
✏️Throughout just two class periods, the Alaskids’ learning experience seamlessly integrated subjects like Science, Mathematics, and Vietnamese, with the help of active teaching methods. This approach not only helped the students engage with scientific concepts in a relatable and natural way, but it also allowed them to explore the topic of the capital’s liberation on October 10th through poetry and overcoming challenges in games. Additionally, the students had the chance to develop their communication and collaboration skills by working with their peers and teachers.
