ALASKA ACADEMY EXTENDS HELPING HAND TO LAO CAI

On September 18, 2024, shortly after the successful conclusion of the “ALASKA SENDS ALL ITS LOVE” fundraising campaign, a delegation from the Alaska Academy, comprising staff and teachers, embarked on a journey to Lao Cai. They carried crucial supplies to support the people and students affected by the devastation caused by Typhoon No. 3.

At the Lao Cai Provincial Youth Union, the delegation presented numerous gift boxes to be distributed among the residents and students in the villages and communes that were in dire need of assistance.

The same day, a team from the Alaska Academy traveled to Nậm Pung commune in Bát Xát district, Lào Cai province, one of the areas severely impacted by the heavy rains and floods. In a heartwarming gesture, the delegation donated 20 scholarships, each worth 300,000 VND, to the teachers and students of Nậm Pung Boarding Ethnic Minority High School and Middle School. Additionally, they provided 4,000 notebooks, 4 boxes of school supplies, 1 box of backpacks, 45 boxes of milk, and 25 boxes of cakes and dry rations.

📍 Located in a remote area that has been isolated for many days, Nậm Pung Semi-boarding Ethnic Minority Primary and Secondary School also suffered damage from the floods, with one kitchen and restroom collapsing. As the delegation arrived at the school just after it had been cleaned up post-flood, the school administration could not hide their emotions when the Alaska Education System became the first educational organization to travel the long distance to support the school right after the students returned to classes.
💕 On the journey to Lào Cai, witnessing the devastation left by the storm and navigating treacherous roads marked by the aftermath of horrific landslides, we gained a deeper understanding of the immense losses faced by the flood-affected communities. We hope that the love and care, along with the heartfelt gifts from parents, teachers, and students of Alaska, as well as people from across the country, will serve as small flames to warm hearts and ignite hope, enabling the people and students of Lào Cai to rise strong after the floods. ❤️
